Action star Arturo Gatti, who returns to the ring against an opponent to be named on July 14 in Atlantic City, N.J., is hunting for a new trainer in the wake of his split with Buddy McGirt.

They had been together for 10 fights, but ended their relationship after Gatti's knockout loss to then-welterweight champ Carlos Baldomir in July. Both sides said the breakup was for personal reasons, but wouldn't go into detail.
"Arturo has nothing against Buddy. He loves Buddy," manager Pat Lynch told ESPN.com. "But it's something I didn't get in the middle of."
Lynch said no decision has been made on who will train the former junior welterweight and junior lightweight titleholder.
"We haven't made any decisions, but Arturo, Kathy Duva and I are talking about a few things and going over some names," Lynch said.
As for Gatti's next fight, it won't be against fellow action star Diego "Chico" Corrales, the former lightweight champ who is expected to move up to welterweight for his next fight. Lynch confirmed that Corrales promoter Gary Shaw called him about a possible fight, but that they were not interested. "I told Gary, 'Not for July, but maybe we would consider it after that,'" Lynch said. "It's somethng that doesn't fit into our plans for July. But we'd always consider it in the future. We never rule any fight out, but he's not on our radar screen right now."
