Five million U.S. BlackBerry users faced 10 long data-starved hours after technical problems hit their cherished wireless email service on Tuesday and led to a nationwide blackout.
The blackout was grueling to many and revealed just how dependent so many people are on their pocket-sized electronic lifelines.
While the public searches for answers, Research in Motion, the Canadian company that makes the BlackBerry, shed little light on what went wrong claiming, “the root cause is currently under review."
As BlackBerry users fear the next “incident,” online gambling site BetUS>com posted odds on Blackberry's next blackout which allows Blackberry users to make money next time they'll remain without their favorite communication tool.
"The blackout really showed how dependent everyone is on technology,” stated BetUS.com spokesman Reed Richards. “For 10 hours people got to live a world without e-mail, Internet and cell phones, and they could not handle it.”
