Record breaking Spider-Man 3 weekend allegedly triggered Disney to move up the release of Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds end to Thursday, May 24.
Industry insiders speculate that the decision to anticipate the release of one day was made to ensure another record breaking performance. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was the previous weekend record holder before Sony’s Spider Man 3 hit the theaters last week.
Pirates of the Caribbean; At Worlds end now has more than four days to make a huge slam at the box office (Monday is Memorial Day) and possibly regain the opening weekend record.
