US economy thriving, America winning war in Iraq - Bush Adam Thomas

President George W. Bush last week claimed that the the United States economy is thriving and the American forces are winning the war in Iraq.
A day after Bush's statement on the economy, US Federal Reserve was forced to pour US$38 billion into financial institution to provide liquidity to banks and other lending organizations.
"I just finished a productive meeting with members of my economic team," Bush said on Thursday. "We discussed our thriving economy and what we need to do to keep it that way."
The Fed did not agree with President Bush's rosy outlook when it issued a terse statement regarding the injection of funds.

"In current circumstances, depository institutions may experience unusual funding needs because of dislocations in money and credit markets," the statement read.
President Bush's declaration on Iraq followed another week of unrelenting violence in Iraq.
Even as Bush made the radio address in which he painted a picture of progress in Iraq, a roadside bomb killed a provincial governor and at least 40 other reported incidents of civilian deaths.
"Only a year ago, al Qaeda ruled places like Ramadi, terrorizing the local population and intimidating local authorities," Bush said. "Today al Qaeda has largely been driven out of these cities, markets and schools are reopening, and normal life is returning. And since January, each month we have killed or captured an average of more than 1,500 al Qaeda terrorists and other enemies of Iraq's elected government."
But US troops do not seem to share their President's positive sentiments.
"I don't know which planet he's on," one soldier said on the condition of anonymity, as US servicemen and women in Iraq are prohibited from speaking to the press. "Soldiers are dying by the dozen every day, and the civilian death toll is unimaginable. I don't call this winning. And al-Qaeda only came to Iraq because we invaded this country."
