David Archuleta continues to lead the pack according to odds makers; however Carly Smithson seems to have gained momentum in today's updated odds to win American Idol.
Here we are again with the weekly update of the odds to win American Idol. There are no surprises at the top and the bottom of the chart.
David Archuleta continues to bear the best chances to be crowned American Idol this year, his odds currently offered at 1 to 1 at Sportsbook.com (http://ff.connextra.com/sportingbetUSA/selector/click?client=sportingbetUSA&placement=Theonlinewire_txtlink).
David Cook follows at 3 to 1, while Brooke White is offered at 7 to 2. However the third place could represent the only surprise this week.
We always cross check Sportsbook.com (http://ff.connextra.com/sportingbetUSA/selector/click?client=sportingbetUSA&placement=Theonlinewire_txtlink) odds with the ones of PinnacleSports.com (http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xtower1), the first and probably the sharpest bookmaker to offer odds on American Idol since its second season.
Odd makers at Sportsbook.com rate Carly Smithson fourth; her odds offered at 4 to 1; PinnacleSports.com (http://www.pinnaclesports.com/?refer=xtower1) has Carly third at +613, well ahead of Brooke offered at +899.
Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune shares PinnacleSports.com odds makers' opinion. "Carly Smithson roars through power ballads like Godzilla raged through Tokyo: It's more a rampage than a rendition. There’s no doubt that Smithson can deliver the difficult notes, but can she sing with emotion, subtlety and deftness? That remains to be seen. Can she win? Maybe." She wrote in her Top 10: who can win, who can't.
In the odds makers' middle field we find Michael Johns at 8 to 1, Jason Castro at 12 to 1, Ramiele Malubay at 25 to 1 and Syesha Mercado at 25 to 1.
Chikezie is 9th, his odds to win sitting at 35 to 1 while Kristy Lee Cook comes last (or worst, as you preefer) at 75 to 1. Kristy has been in the bottom three for weeks however Maureen Ryan seems to think she still has a chance.
"Like Carly Smithson, Cook can belt out songs with the best of them, but do you remember her performances the next day? Me neither." Ryan wrote in her American Idol Top 10 analysis."She needs to really step up her game in the next few weeks and do her best to avoid sounding like “musical wallpaper,” as Simon put it. Can she win? Maybe."
Every opinion matters, as we all know. We think betting $10 on Kristy could be a wise move...after all 75 to 1 would pay out $750 should she end up winning American Idol.
