Wellington Hurricanes http://www.betshoot.com/images/vs.gif Canterbury Crusaders
The First game of this weeks Super 14 comp throws up the Match of the round as the Crusaders for the first time this campaign now start running into their other NZ counterparts and first up its the Hurricanes to face the sternest test of the Super 14 in the Crusaders.
Both sides for this match are at full strenght with the canes getting back Nonu imparticular for this game from suspension, the Canes have now won 4 games straight against the Reds,Brumbies,Cheifs and Highlanders but they are yet to really face one of the big sides, they lost to the Waratahs in Rd 1 in Sydney 20-3 but since then have looked near on unbeatable, their defence has saved them time and time again in their last two matches imparticular against the Brumbies and Highlanders and with their hard working loosies and no 8 they have realy become a force out on the field, their backline is till turing over the ball though but as they have shown once they get going they are very hard to stop, they lead the Comp in long range trys from turnovers and they derserve to be as some of their trys have been absoloute genuis really.
The Crusaders remain the only undefeated side in the comp and it's little wonder as to why, their team is all class from top to bottom and this week they get MacDonald back also so a full streght clash is what we are about to witness here tonight, the match ups in this game are just great and it al looks very even apart from the one player who stands out head and shoulders abover the rest and thats Daniel Carter, both sides forwards have the abilty to cancel each other out and so do the backlines, the one real point of difference is the first five battle as Gopperth is not even in the same time zone class wise as Carter,I think this game will be very close and will be decided by one play that will make or break the hopes of either side and i'm picking Carter to come up with that play right when the Crusaders need it.
The last 5 matches and the Crusaders have won all of them against the Hurricanes and should really do the same again this week, they have only played one of those games in Wellington and it was a 11-20 win to the Crusaders in 2006.
Look this is the game of the round without a doubt, these teams are so even it is freaky, the Canes defence has been great but they are still relying on turnovers to get their results but the Crusaders don't make many of those now do they? Bpth sides look very even on paper but I still say Carter will make a major play in this game whether it be with his boot or other wise, the Crusaders have conceeded less than 8 points in their last 2 games and have only conceeded 7 trys all season,I like the Crusaders to lose a game but not this one, that game is comming in a couple of weeks..take the Crusaders by 12 points or less....Good Luck.
